We get to know which house won tomorrow. There's Tudwal, Enlli and Gwylan (I'm in gwylan). Enlli and Tudwal are islands in the area. They say that there are 20,000 saints buried on Enlli. Gwylan isn't an island, it's a little group of rocks where ships used to crash in the olden days. It also means seagull.
^That's from a post last month called 'Sports Day'. I couldn't be bothered to explain the houses again. It was the school Eisteddfod and the different houses were competing again :) I'm in Gwylan. Tudwal are know to always win the sports and Enlli the Steddfod. I was doing a solo piece on clarinet, I was soooo nervous, playing in front of the whole school. I squeaked and came joint third (out of four) with a trumpet player. I'd also entered six homework pieces and got 1st for art (Self portrait) and English (Globe theatre) and third in Science (Electromagnetic Spectrum), History (Tudor life) and Georgraphy (Friends of the earth thing). It was a really fun day and I got to see some great singers and actors aswell :D Lunch was cool, we were allowed to eat in the classrooms (Me and H (Not from Steps) sat in the Geography class eating paninis) Then in the afternoon there was disco dancing, chair ceremony (E won!!!!) and choir. Each house had one choir, Gwylan's had about 2 lines of people but the other houses had loads, we had no chance. I've tried to find a link to the song we sang, a welsh pop song called 'Pishyn' but I can't find one. It's quite a good song. S came back to mine afterwards and we texted in to the local radio station, Champion 103 saying well done to Enlli who'd won (And to Gwylan and Tudwal of course) and congrats to E :) They actually read it out! We were amazed :D I hope E heard it 8D Then, Guides, painting Chinese dragons. I'm gonna try and post a picture of mine sometime.
We're going to Manchester tomorrow (China town and shopping!!) for my brother's brithday, then on Sunday we go to see Old Trafford, the football stadium. Can't wait :D
I don't think I've ever had a post that long... Sorry if it's a bit lengthy :)
Tomorrow, there will be some more Yumi pictures....
School was....erm.... fun. I went to the office with K to hand in some Tesco vouchers when the receptionist told me to come back later to collect the art thing. 'The art thing' is a massive canvas covered in Wales related stuff me and a group of friends did for the Eisteddfod about a month ago. We came second in Sir, which is OK I suppose. The art teacher put my name down in the group name bit. C had decided we were to be called Gennod Cymraeg (Welsh girls. Not technically true. Me and HJ aren't actually Welsh. Not that we really went into much detail.) It got a bit iffy cos they put my name on the certificate. I made copies but who wants a certificate with someone else's name on it? I think C got a little peeved with everything being in my name.... (I don't balme her) even more when she heard that I was having to take it home with me. It's huge. It barely fit in the car. I'll post a pic some time :)
I stayed in school till 5pm today. I didn't have detention or anything like that. Me, A and H were staying behind to start our entry for the craft part of the Eisteddfod. I vowed never to do Eisteddfod again- well I sort of went against that. We have to do a collage which goes with a poem about Wales. It's quite fun- chatting and pastelling all afternoon.
This is a Ribena carton. It has nothing whatsoever to do with what I just wrote about above.
Eisteddfod yesterday. We were doing our reciting. Arrived at 6:30 with C. The school they were holding it in was in the middle of nowhere. Our teacher arrived about 7:15 even though we'd been promised to go on by 7. It was 10:00pm when we left. Me and C left with my Mum before the results so I had no clue how we'd done till this morning. Thrid. Out of three. Apparently we spoke too quickly. And too loudly. And they didn't like the bit when we all turned to face each other and went all 'OTT' (It was part of the poem) It was an experiance though, I don't think I've laughed so much in a while. There was me E, E2, R (Only boy. He has a really high pitched voice, C asked him how he'll sound when his voice breaks. He said it had.) C, C, E3, M, M2, S. We went to practice in a Welsh classroom with a shrine to Glyn Wise! I felt at home lol. I've gotta go now
The parti cydadrodd is going brilliantly now! I can actually remember what we have to say. We're having a real laugh, especially on Friday. And it's a great reason to have an early lunch .:)
Eisteddfod is a Welsh thing held every year, Think about it like a nation wide talent show.
I'm doing 'Parti Cydadrodd' which is saying a poem really dramatically in a group of twelve. Stayed after school today to practice and had a real laugh! The teacher who's doing it with us is really nice and no one feels to bad making a mistake. We had a great chat at the end and it was really fun. Being in school while no one else is there is so smart aswell.
